Isn't mineral oil a byproduct of processing petroleum? Is that considered "All Natural"?

Mineral Oil is a petroleum product and as such can be harmful. Especially to those allergic to mineral oil and petroleum products

my new butcher block drank the entire bottle. Can you over apply the oil? Should I apply more?

Cutting boards that are very thick or woods that are very porous can soak up a lot of oil, especially if they have never been treated before. We recommend that you apply oil to the board until the oil is no longer absorbed into the board. Future applications should be fairly easy as the board won't soak up nearly as much oil as the first coat.

How long does this treatment last?

This treatment is not a single application product. Cutting boards need to be periodically treated with oil to preserve the integraty of the wood and maintain a clean cutting surface. They should be treated on both the top and bottom to prevent any water absorbtion into the wood's exterior surface. Always use a good wood surface oil and use it at regular intervals. Also, at the beginning of the treatment, a more generous amount needs to be used at a more frequent interval.
