German WWII M35 Steel Helmet- Stahlhelm 35 WW2 M1935- Extra Large Shell- Size 70

Bought this as a gift for my husband's birthday and he really, really likes it. It fits large or what others may call extra large or German-sized men, perfectly. Of course adjustable and every detail has had German level/quality attention. Multi purpose tool- helmet, water carrier, shave bowl, seat, and possible weapon if used properly.

Very pleased with this purchase. (bought 2 of them, one for my son) I have a few original and restored examples (m35,M40, M42) all in the smaller 62 and 64 sizes but never one that I could actually wear since good original 68's have exploded in price. I see lots to like here. Both came absolutely perfect out of the box. No chips, dings, or any QC issues to report. The shape of the shell looks pretty good to me. The skirt is the proper taper and length and the color is very nice on the slight greener side of field gray perfect for a double decal early war helmet. Nice touches on the crown ink stamp, well done lot/size shell stamping, and manufacturer marked liner and chinstrap. I usually wear a 7 5/8 hat and this is a nice fit. Liner is perfectly serviceable and comfortable with supple leather; don't see any real need to upgrade this. Darken it up with some diluted brown leather dye if the needs suits you. Chin strap is decent enough but upgrades are a click away. For the price, a really great effort.

If you're looking for a well made replica German helmet this one fits the bill,I bought another around fifteen years ago that was too small,it fit but looked odd,no such problem with this one,fits great and looks right. I'd say IMA is good to go if you want WWII replica gear.

I mark it as too large but that's only because I am more interested in buying to fit the first time rather than dicking around trying to send things back and get the perfect fit. I got the X-Large and it is pretty loose fitting around my head but the chin strap keeps it in place and the extra looseness gives me space for adding toques or hats underneath which would make it fit comfortably together easily. Overall, very good buy and very happy. I've heard things about paint chipping issues regarding IMA helmets but I just received it so I will have to wait to see evidence of that.
