This was the highest rating for the size I could find. And with 3M behind it you can sleep at night knowing they did their research and developed a solid product. Always have had good results with these.

I spent a lot of time comparing HVAC filters and doing my own testing. My goal was to get as good of air filtration as possible with minimal static pressure. Most on-line comments suggest to just get a MERV 8 filter and call it a day to minimize static pressure. We'll, that's simply bad advice. The filtrete 1900 and 2200 provide lower static pressure than any other 1" filter - regardless of MERV rating. The only exception is the bottom of the barrel fiberglass filters that really don't filter anything out. And they're only modestly less restrictive. The filtrete 2200 (and 1900) will provide the lowest resistance possible for a 1" deep filter that provides any substantial filtration at all. Period. As to their effect on your HVAC's total static pressure, there are many variables regarding proper HVAC performance. Assuming your blower speed is about 350 - 400 cfm per ton, and the surface area of your return box is sized properly, and your ductwork is properly sized, you can get close to the target of 1 to 2 in/h20 static pressure filter reduction. I have a 20"x40" return (need to use 2 20x20 filters). At 1250 cfm the static pressure drop is about .13 in/h20. My system's return static pressure without a filter is .17. So, .3 total return pressure. .25 would be ideal, but that simply isn't possible for my system. And no other 1" filter would come close.

These filters do cost a bit more but in my experience, if you change them within 2-4 months (filter condition pending) they do pretty well. I just got a new hvac system and compared to the generic filter they placed and these were a noticeable difference within a day. I tried the generic for a week before switching and it does filter dust, allergens, smells and keeps the air in good quality. Size is standard. My system is a little odd but it fits snug for my bryant AC.

After trying some budget MERV 13s which didn't really clean our air we went back to filtretes. Our monitor consistently reports our AQI near 0. With those budget trash filters it was like 80. This vendor didn't package the filters well. Just the filters in an oversized box with no internal packaging. 2 filters has smashed corners/edges but are still usable. I'm just so glad to have clean air.

Have not used it yet, but Filtrete double sided filters are always a good product.

These filters are a great value and fit. It truly does help the room smell cleaner.

They seem to catch a lot of dirt

That best residential filter that you could found on the market. However due to fine mesh It should be changed every month not as instruction every other month which it not economic.
