Auralex Acoustics MOPAD MOPAD Monitor Acoustic Isolation Pads (1 Pair), Charcoal

First of all, let me begin by saying to everyone out there complaining about the price of these do you expect to have good sounding equipment by being cheap? Do you purchase a $30 microphone and expect to record a symphony? Like serious. It's $25. Geez. If you have good monitors and plan on getting the most out of them. Hopefully you paid a lot more for your speakers. Now on to the review...these things work. And they work well.. The picture is kind of deceiving. You actually get 8 different pieces in the box.,Not 2 as shown in the picture. You get two top halves and two bottom half for each speakers. 4 pieces per speaker. You can use these pieces wisely to adjust the angle of your speakers to aim at your ear level. You can take the top halfs off which will aim the speakers at an extreme downward angle. Or you can leave the top half on and have your speakers level at no angle, a slightly downward angle, a slight upward angle, or use the foam facing backwards for an extreme upward angle. These adjustments can be critical for monitoring as every little bit towards getting the best SQ you can achieve. I own a pair or KRK rokit 5 G2s which I have been using for about 2 years now. I usually just have them on a desk and I had gotten use to the rattling because I was ignorant to how much that affects SQ and how it was making me harder to mix. After getting these pads I now wish I would have gotten them 2 years ago!! My soundstage completely opened up, i can now hear tighter more precise bass. Even small little details stand out more. I went back and mixed down a couple old songs again and they now sound even better than ever. They also do their true job of eliminating rattle perfectly. My desk doesn't shake at all! It's a completely new sounding experience for me now. These little pads are the truth and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone with a home studio. Please read this and spend the extra money on these. You won't regret it and they look really professional.

What makes the Auralex a better choice for some people is the option to angle your monitors if using the pads raise the tweeters above ear level. I use a metered desk and the 8 degree angle works perfect not only for coupling my monitors but also for angling the tweeters down at my ears. Sure they seem expensive, but its manufactured for different applications. You can angle the pads with included foam inserts to either point your monitors 4-8 degrees up or down. I'm listening to all my favorite dance mixes on my ADAM A7X Monitors with the Mopads and now i hear the sub bass lines 80% better. The pitches are actually discernible now. Also, The A7X monitors fit PERFECTLY on the Mopads. For the aesthetics alone, this was by far worth the money.

The foam looks and feels like its very good quality. The cheap stuff found on amazon doesnt even compare. They are very dense and firm, but you can tell they are very absorbent. I bought these as a temporary solution for some speakers that I bought. I have since replaced them with Isoacoustics Aperta stands, but tbh, i really cant hear or feel much of an improvement. Since then, these Auralex isolation pads have come in handy as isolation pads for my subwoofer. The modular design also helps with my 2x12 guitar amp combo. I can tilt and position my cab upwards while isolating the vibrations. The amp combo is pretty heavy and these foam pads can handle that weight easily. I actually just use a single speaker pad. I got to save money on an amp stand. Having a pair of these pads will come in handy.

These foam isolation pads do the trick. They work great to isolate your speakers, or near field monitors, from the surface they are sitting on. They really make the Bass a lot "punchier" with less vibration. I have them sitting under the monitors on my computer desk, and they do exactly what they are designed for. I would purchase them again if I needed to, however........Come on people, these are little pieces of dense foam. How in the world can you charge this kind of money for something that amounts to nothing more than "packing material?" In reality you could save the foam out of the next electronics (or other) purchase you make from Amazon, and cut it into the needed shapes. It would do exactly the same thing for no cost to you. As I said, this is a good product, and does what it is intended to do. I gave them 4 stars because they do work well. I took off 1 star because of the ridiculous price for what this product actually is, FOAM. I would recommend purchasing this product if you have money to burn, and need them for their intended purpose. However, there are many more cheaper, and practical, solutions out there.

Humor aside; what can I say? They are just foam, but boy do they work well! Sure, you can go out and cut your own, but these offer so many advantages due to their smart design and your ability to adjust angles, etc. My bass response used to drone quite a bit due to my working space and surfaces picking up the resonating low frequencies (the speakers were desk mounted). However, since installing these (and yes: THE "1 PAIR" BOX COMES WITH TWO SETS OT TWO PADS!) the bass response really kicks, and no longer tails off like a fat man trying to roll himself back onto his feet. My girlfriend was also happy to hear that when I mix now, the lower frequencies no longer travel through the walls rattle the bathtub water making her think the T-Rex from Jurassic Park was coming. I expect with these pads that any moment Hans Zimmer is going to call me asking why my mixes sound so good. Well, the secret's out Hans! If you ain't using these pads you might as well hang up the baton, not that anybody uses those things anymore!

It took me a while to decide weather to buy the real things, a knock-off version of these or yoga blocks. Luckily, I found an amazon gift card that paid for almost the entire thing. I had no idea that the difference between these and something else was going to be so vast. First off, let me say that I am a DJ with KRK Rokit 6 G2 speakers. Not the worlds greatest speakers, but by far better than 99% of any speakers I have ever heard. They were sitting on my desk behind my mixer and I was getting good sound, but it never had the perfect tone I was expecting. These pads brought the sound off the desk and into my face. The 8 degree angle on these is perfect for the height I am off the desk and the response I was getting turned these monitors from an A to an A+. I will NEVER go back to anything besides these, and I will make sure that every speaker in my home is sitting on a pair of Auralex MoPADs. Thank you for making such a great product!

I bought these with an atypical application: I wanted something I could position right under my TV on a TV stand without having a separate center channel stand, and this worked perfectly. The center channel speaker fits perfectly on a couple of them and doesn't cause the glass it is resting on to vibrate with sound as I hoped. I've used these for other bookshelf speakers before with success, and I'm very pleased with both the cost, fit, and effectiveness of the product.

I bought these to isolate my center speaker (Polk CS10) from my Ikea cabinet and to angle the speaker more inline with my ears. The MOPAD did just that. Dialog in movies became clearer and the angle helped to align it better. I found myself not needing to turn up the volume as much to hear the dialog. As another reviewer has said there are 4 of the main pad in the package and 4 smaller wedges used to adjust the angle. Since I only needed 2 of the pads for my center speaker I used the other two on my Xbox 360 that is quite loud when reading a disc. Placing the Xbox on the MOPADs greatly reduced the vibration noise created by the Xbox. I put two of the smaller wedges on each of the MOPADs to keep the Xbox level. Altogether, I am very pleased with the MOPADs and would consider them again.

Per i miei monitor da studio avevo bisogno di due pad isolanti per ridurre vibrazioni, risonanze e migliorare la resa sonora. Inizialmente ero indeciso se prendere queste o le "Adam Hall Mattonelle Isolanti Pad1" vendute sempre qui su Amazon ad un prezzo inferiore. Alla fine ho optato per queste Auralex, e la qualità si nota (già dal packing). Ho scelto queste per diversi motivi: - Il marchio Auralex per chi non lo sapesse è uno dei migliori in termini di trattamenti acustici, i loro prodotti sono usati in tutti gli studio del mondo, quindi volevo prendere un prodotto professionale e di qualità che non si sbriciolasse nel tempo e soprattutto che non fosse troppo morbido per il peso delle monitor. - Le Adam Hall nonostante avessero una differenza di prezzo di soli 10 euro erano comunque troppo basse (4 cm) questi della Auralex arrivano a 7 cm. - Sono componibili (ne sono 4) e molto robusti per sostenere il peso dei monitor. Arrivano in una confezione molto curata (foto in allegato) in cui vi sono all'interno 4 pezzi: ognuno di dimensioni di 10x30x7 cm. Ottimo poterne avere 4. Se avete monitor più piccoli, ad esempio, possono essere utilizzati solo 2 (ed utilizzare gli altri su altre monitor ancora) senza dover tagliare le spugne danneggiandole o renderle inutilizzabili nel caso dovessi cambiare casse. Mentre per monitor più grandi possono essere messi in coppia, sia uno vicino all'altro e sia più distanziati. Fanno il loro lavoro egregiamente. Nota dolente: il prezzo! E' vero sono molto costosi per l'uso che devono fare, ma vi assicuro che la spesa è necessaria in quanto avrete una resa davvero migliore per i vostri monitor, soprattutto per un home studio. La differenza si vede. Fate la spesa una sola volta prendendoli di qualità. Li consiglio. Amazon puntuale e impeccabile nella spedizione.

Excellent quality, very strong doesn't sink over time. Using it with Yamaha HS7, and they are not light speakers.
