Do these have a chemically smell from the green or blue dye?

NO.It is a prewashed product. Thanks, Cotton Trends.

so they wrinkle badly when washed?

They are wrinkled a little when they come out of the dryer. It's not a problem for me. I just fold them and put them in a drawer.

Are these towels mercerized cotton?

My guess would be "no." They are made in India and are of excellent quality but they don't have the "sheen" of mercerized cotton.

Is the red a blue red or an orange red? Thanks.

Mine is more of the red blue (it's a darker red - no hint of orange)
